Blake Russell is excited to join Opening Act as a teaching artist for the upcoming school year! As an actor, Blake has worked at Brooklyn Academy of Music, The New School, The Humana Festival of New American Plays, HB Studio, Suitcase Shakespeare Company, Manual Cinema, and others. He has also been lucky to play in the performance art world with Erica Mott’s Cowboy & Vikings Project, Claire Ashley’s giant wearable inflatables, and internationally with Mark Jeffery & Judd Morrisey’s anatomical theatre of mixed-reality. Residencies include High Concept Laboratories, Human Thread Gallery, The Ragdale Foundation, and the largest LGBT community center in the Midwest- The Center on Halsted.

As a producer, he co-organized Voices Inside: A Prison Play Series with the Northpoint Training Center and Actors Theatre of Louisville. He is also a founding producer of the Chicago Home Theater Festival which curates both artists and audience in an effort to cross pollinate a hyper-segregated city.

Blake is an alumnus of the School at Steppenwolf, HB Studio, and the Actors Theatre of Louisville apprenticeship. Proudly represented by Nicolosi & Co, Rosier Artist Management, and Abrams Artists Agency.
