Hayley Sherwood is a California-born, NYC-based theatre artist, who expresses her commitment to meaningful and thoughtful connection as a teaching artist, arts administrator, producer, and actor. Since she can remember, she has seen theatre as space for the safe and bountiful practice of risk-taking and devoted most of her life to facilitating that practice for herself and others, particularly those that might not consider themselves artists. This conviction has led her to manage a touring educational theatre company in Boston with New Rep Theatre, teach and act with Story Pirates, an organization committed to blowing kids minds, and most recently, producing COMMUNITY WORKS, a community-engaged theatre program at Williamstown Theatre Festival that casts local residents in a giant, new, professional musical that is performed for thousands of Berkshires residents on the mainstage of the festival. She has her BFA in Theatre Arts from Boston University and her MA in Educational Theatre for Colleges and Communities from NYU. She is one of the founding members of a highly athletic, and super-geographic theatre company, In the Water, and can’t wait to teach with Opening Act!
