ARTISTIC ADVISORY BOARD

Jared Gertner has worked in theatre, TV, film, commercials, and voice over.  He is best known for the 3.5 years he spent playing Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon on Broadway, the First National Tour, and in London’s West End, where he was nominated for an Olivier Award.  He also sings on the show’s original cast album.

Jared’s breakout role on the New York stage was William Barfee in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Broadway, and the First National Company in San Francisco and Boston – where he won the IRNE Award). He created the role of Warren in Ordinary Days (Off Broadway – Roundabout Theatre Company), and appears on the original cast album. In addition, he appeared in the popular Off-Broadway improv show, Don’t Quit Your Night Job opposite stars such as Sara Ramirez, Mo Rocca, Richard Kind, Michael McKeon, and more!

On TV, Jared has appeared on How I Met Your Mother, Ugly Betty, and The Good Wife. He was also in the independent festival favorites, The Suicide Auditions, and Between Love & Goodbye.  He’s also known for his award-winning work as Randall Moody in the web series, Submissions Only.

Jared’s regional credits include:  Paper Mill Playhouse, Goodspeed, Cape Playhouse, Fulton Opera House, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, St Louis Repertory, The Gem, The Orpheum, 11th Hour Theatre, and more.   As a theatre educator, he has taught master classes across the U.S and in London.

Jared hails from the Jersey Shore (the place, not the TV show) and received a BFA in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.  He currently resides with his husband, Jeffrey, in Los Angeles.

Jared joined the Artistic Advisory Board in 2014 after volunteering as a Guest Artist for many years in Opening Act’s classrooms.
