Happy start of the school year OA community!
The Opening Act team and I are absolutely thrilled to be going safely back on stage with our brilliantly talented students and alums! We are optimistic about the year ahead and look forward to bringing hope, joy, and community to NYC public schools! Last week, we hosted our second annual State of the Ensemble (if you missed it, rewatch HERE!), and shared our 3 Pathways to ImpACT:
Act I: Live, in-person theater programming focused on supporting students’ social and emotional needs in our 56 partnering schools! #BACKONSTAGE
Act II: Expansion of Career & Leadership Development opportunities through our Student Leadership Company (SLC) and Alumni Apprenticeship and Fellowship programs! #EMPOWER
Act III: Greater impact by reaching more students including pre-adolescents in our middle school programs and young adults in our expanding District 79 partnership and alumni workforce development programming! #INCLUDE
These are BIG plans, and just like everything we do at Opening Act, we need our amazing community to empower this work – and this is your opportunity to make a major impact as we bring our students and alums back on stage…
#POWEROF20, our annual peer-to-peer fundraising campaign fueled by our dedicated Opening Act supporters is launching, and I am delighted to invite you to be a #POWEROF20 Leader! I’ve already committed to being a #P20 Leader this year, and I can’t wait to rally my personal network to SHOW UP for our students and alums in a powerful way. Will you join me as a #P20 Leader to help bring our students and alums back on stage, giving them the encore they deserve?
Running from Monday, October 4th through Saturday, October 23rd, #POWEROF20 is an incredible opportunity to engage and activate a broad community of support to bring equitable, transformative arts access into the lives of young people in NYC and beyond! The commitment is low, the impact is high, and our toolkit makes being a #P20 Leader easy. Join our dedicated force of #P20 Leaders today so that YOU can help ensure as many young people as possible have access to the socially and emotionally rich arts education they need and deserve.
Let’s join together once again to give our students and alums their very well deserved ENCORE!
With a round of applause,
Zareta Ricks
