It’s our 20th year of student performances and our first year ONLINE! In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, Opening Act programming went online, working to engage sheltered-in students with weekly workshops in improv and creative writing. While students were not able to take the physical stage, they were able to showcase their work in our first ever virtual YESfest experience!
What YESfest means…
YESfest is the culmination of our year-long theater programming. Opening Act students create and perform plays #InTheirOwnWords, taking on topics ranging from gentrification, history repeating itself, and secrets…
Kyra Sedgwick on how YOU can support…
YESfest 2019 was a success!
Audiences of family, friends, Teaching Artists, Board and Social Board members, staff, and alumni were blown away by the unique, singular, and student-centered stories highlighted on stage at the Five Angels Theater over two dynamic weekends in May, 2019!
Where can you find students-turned-superheroes, a K-Pop band that changes the world, and a politically charged live-action video game, all on one stage?
Opening Act’s festival of new plays!
May 11-12 & May 18-19 2019
This annual event is free and open to the public!
