ARTISTIC ADVISORY BOARD

Matt Hoverman’s play The Glint was given a staged reading in Opening Act’s 2013 Play Reading, starring Jean Smart, Beau Bridges, Michael McKean and Cecily Strong. It has since been optioned for Broadway by Nelle Nugent, with Michael Wilson set to direct.  Other plays include: Who You See Here (Barrow Group, workshop at La Jolla Playhouse –Christopher Ashley, director), In Transit (FringeNYC Best Playwriting Award), The Student (Samuel French OOB Short Play Festival Winner), The Audience (co-book writer, Drama Desk Best New Musical Award Nominee), Christmas Shorts: 5 Merry Little Comedies  (published by Samuel French and produced nationwide), Searching For God In Suburbia7 Tales from Beyond… The City (Huntington Theatre Breaking Ground Festival) and his newest play, Thrillsville (O’Neill National Playwrights Conference semi-finalist.)

He is a four-time finalist for the Actors Theatre of Louisville Heideman Award. Residences include the Ojai Playwrights Conference, the Edward Albee Foundation and the Berkshire Playwrights Lab. As a TV writer, Matt won the 2014 Emmy for Outstanding Writing in an Animated Series for his work on the PBS Kids series Arthur. For PBS, he has also written the book/app Wonder Rangers and currently writes for Curious George (including the double-length special celebrating the 75th anniversary of the books.)

Also an actor, his credits include Yale Rep, The Acting Company National Tour, Late Night w/Conan O’Brien and many villainous voices on the cartoons Pokemon,Yu-Gi-Oh!, Sonic X, Shaman King, The WinX Club, Viva Pinata, Dinosaur King, One Piece, The Harlock Saga, Cubix, Chaotic and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

A renowned teacher, Matt has midwived hundreds of solo shows in his popular Go-Solo workshops, including winners of the 2005, 2009, 2010, 2012 & 2013 FringeNYC Best Solo Show Awards.
